Diplomats Enjoyed The Networking Dinner in Manchester

Over 100 business professionals turn up at a networking dinner in Manchester. Pakistan High Commissioner SYED Ibn e ABBAS attended as a chief Guest.

A business networking event was organised by the Economic & Trade Division of Consulate General of Pakistan Manchester & UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UKPCCI) in Manchester on Friday 17th February 2017. The event was chaired by His Excellency, Syed Ibne Abbas, High Commissioner for Pakistan in the UK.

The event was aimed at highlighting the potential trade and investment opportunities between Pakistan and the United Kingdom. The event included speeches by by Mr. Clive Drinkwater, Northwest Regional Director at the Department for International Trade (DIT), Mr. Kai Hughes, Managing Director at the International Cotton Association Ltd, MP Yasmin Qureshi and MEP Afzal Khan.

There was also a brief presentation on successful investment of about US$25million in Pakistan by a British firm, Kingsmann Pharmacies.

A group of British-Pakistani students from University of Salford also gave a presentation to the guests on Trade and Investment prospects in Pakistan.

The High Commissioner for Pakistan in the UK, HE Syed Ibne Abbas spoke about trade and investment relations between Pakistan and the UK. He informed the guests of various economic developments in Pakistan and encouraged them to take advantage of the commercial opportunities arising due to China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). CPEC is a collection of multiple projects worth over US$58 billion focusing on Investment, Trade, Energy, Transport, Infrastructure and Industrial Corridors.

Consul General of Pakistan in Manchester, Dr. Zahoor Ahmad made a vote of thanks and also acknowledged participation of British Pakistani youth in various projects held at the Consulate by giving out certificates of appreciation.
Around 100 niche business & investment companies attended this event including Cllr Gary Miller – Assistant Mayor & Mayoral Lead for Business & International Trade in Liverpool, Barrister Amjad Malik – Chairman Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF), Cllr Faisal Rasheed and Ms. Mandy Lockett – International Business Director of the East Lancashire’s Chamber of Commerce. 

The participants actively discussed several business and investment opportunities in different sectors on Pakistan and gave very encouraging feedback.
