The station has a 5-year community radio license – it is a platform that engages and discusses issues that impact people’s lives; with an aim to have regular inter-faith dialogue shows, creating greater community cohesion. The station is also a place for people of all ages, backgrounds and faiths; to come and gain hands-on experience in a radio/broadcasting environment. We are very proud of the diversity of the station from its onset and will continue to work towards building a better future, together.

Please join us at the British Muslim Heritage Centre on the 6th of December 2016, at 10:30am for the ribbon-cutting ceremony launching Manchester’s First Islamic Community Radio Station – Heritage Radio.

Tony Lloyd (Greater Manchester’s police and crime commissioner/Interim Mayor of Greater Manchester), Tariq Ghani, Managing Director of Olympic Foods, Nasar Mahmood (Chairman of BMHC), as well as other local distinguished guests will be attending the ceremony to celebrate the launch.

Broadcasting on 1602 Medium Wave across Manchester and a major part of the North West, Heritage Radio will also be available on the latest DAB+ platform across Manchester and the surrounding areas.

The Chairman, Mr. Nasar Mahmood thanked everyone involved in the application; volunteers, staff, and well-wishers. ‘…It’s going to be an amazing project, serving the needs of the community, and aiming to build on the already excellent and diverse range of projects at the BMHC. We will use this opportunity to be different, to be innovative, and to tackle issues that matter in the local community. This project will no doubt strengthen community cohesion; creating greater awareness, understanding and collaboration amongst the vibrant mosaic of communities that make up Greater Manchester.’
