1 min read

Mark McElwee has been appointed as Headteacher of Parrs Wood High School in
Didsbury, by the Trustees of Greater Manchester Learning Trust.

He will take up post in April following the departure of current
headteacher Andy Shakos who leaves the school at the end of this term to go
to a new job.

Currently Deputy Headteacher at the school, Mark McElwee has worked at
Parrs Wood for 8 years, joining first as an Assistant Headteacher and
teacher of Science before successfully gaining promotion to Deputy
Headteacher.  He has played a significant role in securing the school’s
upward trajectory in standards and outcomes.

Suzannah Reeves, Chair of Greater Manchester Learning Trust, said:

“Mark’s appointment is great news for the school and is sure to be a
popular choice with pupils and staff, as well as parents.

“Mark is well liked but also respected and has the experience and skills
needed to lead the school on this next important stage of our journey.
We’re very much looking forward to his leadership of the school.”

In addition to making this appointment, the Greater Manchester Learning
Trust – of which Parrs Wood is part – is also at the start of a new
recruitment exercise for the post of Executive Principal of the multi
academy trust, and this post is currently being advertised.
