Manchester’s Christmas season will come to a spectacular end with an incredible fireworks display in Albert Square.
Last year, thousands of people braved the winter cold to bring in the New Year in style and this year’s display is set to surpass anything the event has seen before.
Revellers are invited to the family-friendly, alcohol free countdown to 2017 from 11pm, Saturday 31 December.
The event will be held in the shadow of the iconic Manchester Town Hall on Albert Square and a big screen will carry the all-important countdown to midnight – with the fireworks release from the roof of the iconic building at midnight.
Remember, there are changes to transport services over Christmas and New Year. If you are travelling over the holiday period and using these services you could be affected. Please visit www.tfgm.com/christmas for more information.
Cllr Pat Karney, Manchester City Council’s city centre spokesperson, said:
“This will be a spectacular end to what has been a spectacular Christmas in Manchester. We are famous for our fireworks display and the New Year’s party is firmly on the calendar of Mancunians, joining the global countdown with the likes of Sydney and New York.
“Bring your family and friends along to Albert Square on New Year’s eve for the best show in town.”
